How TaxAside's On-Time Guarantee Protects Your Business

TaxAside Team4 min read

What the guarantee is

The TaxAside On-Time Guarantee is simple: if we make an error that causes a late filing, we pay the penalties and interest. Not you.

Coverage is up to $5,000 per guarantee event — meaning per incident where a TaxAside error causes a late filing or late payment. The annual aggregate cap is $15,000 for a single account, or $25,000 if you have 5 or more locations.

The guarantee is backed by Errors & Omissions insurance — the same type of coverage that CPAs and tax professionals carry.

What triggers a guarantee claim

A guarantee event is triggered when all of these are true:

TaxAside was responsible for filing your return. The return was filed late or the payment was sent late. The late filing was caused by a TaxAside error (not by missing data, insufficient funds, or a POS outage on your end). Your state assessed penalties or interest as a result.

If those conditions are met, you're covered.

What we need from you

The guarantee has a few straightforward requirements:

Keep accurate data in your POS. If your POS is recording transactions correctly, we can file correctly. If your POS has the wrong tax rate or miscategorized items, that's not something we can catch.

Keep your bank account funded. We pull daily set-asides via ACH. If a single pull fails, no problem — we'll retry. But if your account is consistently underfunded, we can't guarantee on-time payment.

Forward state notices within 15 business days. If you get a letter from the state about a penalty or assessment, send it to us. We need to see it to start the claims process.

Stay current on your subscription. The guarantee is active while your subscription is active — and for 90 days after cancellation, covering filing periods during your subscription.

How claims work

If you receive a penalty notice from your state:

Step 1: Forward the notice to us — email it or upload it through your dashboard.

Step 2: We investigate and determine whether the issue was caused by a TaxAside error.

Step 3: If it was our fault, we pay the state directly within 30 days of the final assessment.

Step 4: If the state appeal takes more than 60 days, we issue you a provisional credit while we resolve it.

You don't have to call the state. You don't have to file an appeal. We handle the whole thing.

How it compares

Most sales tax automation tools either offer no guarantee at all, or they cap their coverage at the amount of your annual subscription fees — typically around $696/year. That means their maximum payout wouldn't even cover a single late filing penalty in most states.

TaxAside's guarantee covers up to $5,000 per event. That's real coverage for real penalties.

Other key differences: we give you 15 business days to forward notices (not 10 calendar days). The guarantee survives 90 days after cancellation. And if a state appeal drags on, we issue a provisional credit so you're not waiting.

Included with every subscription

The On-Time Guarantee is included with every TaxAside subscription at $67/month (or $57/month billed annually). No add-on fee. No fine print. See pricing for details, or read the full legal terms.
